Week In Review
Monday: We began our transportation theme this week! Today focused on air transportation.
We discussed different modes of air travel, including planes, helicopters, hot air balloons, and
even blimps! For our special project, we used our fine motor skills to fold paper airplanes.
Tuesday: We talked about water transportation today, exploring boats and all the ways we can
get around on rivers, lakes, and oceans. For our project we continued practicing our folding
skills with origami boats!
Wednesday: Today’s transportation discussion centered on land travel, with an emphasis on
bikes! During curriculum groups, we talked about the different ways to travel by land, such as
train, bus, car, MAX, and bicycle. Teacher Maria brought her bike into the classroom and we
examined all the parts that make a bike function.
Thursday: Today we talked about traffic safety. For our project of the day the kids created their
own traffic lights. The kids used a combination of skill sets they have been building all year on
this project; fine motor, scissor cutting, color identification and literacy all while learning some of
the rules of the road.
Friday: Today we practiced for graduation and enjoyed some time with our reading buddies!
The year has flown by and we are excited for our celebration Tuesday.
Gym Time with Teacher Mike:
Transportation week has been a blast in the gym. We transformed into jets, skateboarders and even
unicycles! We played transportation tag, red light green light, and a few other related
games. The progress the students have made with their motor skills and spacial awareness has
been outstanding. I am excited to watch them graduate on Tuesday and be rewarded for a long
year of hard work (and of course a lot of play too).
Notes and Reminders
- Thanks to Rex’s family for the delicious snack this week!
- Seating for our graduation ceremony next week will be in the gym bleachers. Please let
us know if you or any guests require special seating accommodations.
- Students are welcome to wear a special outfit for graduation! Since we will be on our
usual schedule until 1 pm, we recommend packing shoes that are difficult to run in,
jewelry, or similar items in a bag so that your student can enjoy the regular school day,
then add the special items before we all walk in.
- For the safety and security of everyone, please use the doors to the cafeteria,
located to the left of the courtyard, to enter the building and come to the
classroom if you pick up in aftercare between 4 and 4:30. Thanks!
- On Thursday, Beaumont Middle School had a Lock down Team Response. This is
activated when there is a medical emergency or some non-threatening incident that
requires the staff to control movement inside the school. During a Lock Down Team
Response students stay inside the classroom and continue business as usual.
- School begins at 830 a.m. and morning meeting is at 8:50. Unscheduled arrivals
after this time are disruptive to the learning environment and create challenges in
transition. By 9 a.m. we are in our curriculum groups and students who arrive late
miss crucial literacy, math, and curriculum learning experiences.
