Week In Review

May 30 – June 2

Monday: No school. Happy Memorial Day!

Tuesday: Today was the day of our graduation ceremony. Thanks to everyone for attending

and celebrating with us. The class did such a nice job and we hope that each and every child

feels proud of their accomplishments this year!

Wednesday: Today we made autographs to help us remember our Pre-K friends! Each student

made a small green booklet and we talked about how to leave a small drawing along with our

name on the pages of other friends’ books as a souvenir of our class. Friends spent much of the

afternoon walking around and exchanging books!

Thursday: Our focus this week has been on Kindergarten readiness. During morning meeting

and group time, we discussed what to expect in kindergarten, and how it will be the same or

different from pre-K. To help students feel more prepared, we addressed any questions or

concerns about kindergarten and we read several books, including Tiptoe Into Kindergarten,

Hello School, Kindergarten Kids, Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten, and School

Rules . For our project, we prepared sunflower seeds to take home and plant. Sunflowers, if

planted now, should reach full bloom by the first day of the new school year. This provides

children with a visual timeline, easing anxiety about when kindergarten will start.

Friday: Today we spent our last regular week in the library with our middle school reading

buddies. Next Friday we will have a party with our reading buddies to thank them for an

awesome year together.

Gym Time With Teacher Mike: We are gearing up for summer with some seasonally themed

games and adventures in the gym this week. It started with sun tag where the taggers were the

Sun and getting tagged meant we got a sunburn. To get back in the game we had to put on

some imaginary Aloe Vera. We also played Camper/Rower/Hiker where we tried to avoid the

rain storms. We played a round of Birds Nest on the warm grass, ran around the bases, and

enjoyed some field time in the warm sun. It has been a great week and I am looking forward to

closing out the year with a bunch of fun and healthy play.
